This Quai de L’lle model from Vacheron Constantin is a triumph, exhibiting all the finest qualities from the series. The 41x44 case, the bezel and the lugs are all forged from 18K Rose Gold. The skeleton dial and transparent case back are guarded by scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Beating at 28,800vph inside the case is a Calibre 2460QH rhodium movement with 27 jewels, which is backed by the 43-hour power reserve. The watch has a brown alligator band with deployment clasp and is water-resistant up 30 meters. The dial presents a multi-faceted map of time, incorporating the Galvanic growth of nickel process to raise the 3, 6, 9 and 12 markers, Metallization for white gold micro-text around the date numbers, and laser-engraved digits filled with black ink just to name a few. There are two sub-dials in the layout. White hands with rose gold trim measure the hours and minutes, and there’s a grey seconds hand taking its own account. A security transparent film is stuck to the underside of both the dial and the case back. The dial side has a pattern of concentric lines that also serve as a seconds track. The back of the dial shows a pattern of countless Maltese Crosses and concentric circles. Last but not least there is the watch’s passport. This authenticating document exhibits several unique signature styles including laser perforation, transvision, micro-printing, optical variable ink, line engraving and invisible ink. The passport is included with the manufacturer’s box and papers.
