A new coffee-table book celebrates the history of famed watchmakers Audemars Piguet. The tribute tells the story of the brand through text and photographs.
The company was started in Le Brassus, Switzerland, by Jules-Louis Audemars and Edward-Auguste Piguet in 1875. Audemars was 23 and Piguet 21 at the time. Members of the Audemars and Piguet families have served as directors of the firm throughout its history. Although the firm got off to a slow start, it grew into the third largest employer of horological technicians and artisans in the region.
The first skeleton watch, in which the movement is visible, was created by the company, as were the thinnest automatic movement and the first stainless steel luxury watch, the Royal Oak.
The book has a suggested price of $165.
