A History of Vacheron Constantin

The oldest continually operating watchmaker in the world is Switzerland's Vacheron Constantin, founded by Jean-Marc Vacheron in Geneva in 1755.

Two hundred fifty years have since ticked by, and the company has been going strong the whole time. The company started out making pocketwatches, but changed focus as the fashion changed, making its first wristwatch in 1910.

Since then the company has gone on to be recognized as the manufacturer of some of the world's most technically brilliant and esthetically pleasing watches. For its 250th anniversary, Vacheron Constantine created the Tour de l'Ile, with 834 parts regulating 16 horological complications.
